Google Drive Resources

This web page contains materials designed to help you become familiar with Google Drive. The videos will show you how to use Google Drive using the Google Chrome web browser on a PC. If you are using a smart phone or tablet, you will need to get the Google apps for your device. Thes apps have a significantly different interface than you would experience using Google Drive on a PC.

Google Account: To use Google Drive, you'll need a Google account. If you have a YouTube account or gmail email account, you already have a Google account. YouTube is owned by Google, so if you log into Google or YouTube, you are logging in with your Google account. Note: if you have an existing account through your school or work, you might not be able to use that account for these assignments. Many businesses and schools restrict sharing files and folders outside the organization. If this is the case with your organization, you will need to create your own personal Google account to do the assignments.

Google Chrome: These videos assume you'll be using a computer with the Google Chrome browser installed. Because the Chrome browser is a Google product, most Google apps will work better if you're using Chrome. If you don't already have Chrome, you can install it on your PC. To install it, go to google.com and click the link to install Google Chrome.

Step 1: Sign in at Google and go to Google Drive

Google has updated the Google Drive interface since these videos were made. A few of the buttons may look a little different and a few menus may have changed, but the Google apps should still function similarly to that shown in the videos.
